Dr. Salehi graduated from the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Connecticut (UConn) College of Engineering, where he worked as a Research Assistant at the Robotics and Controls Lab under the leadership of Dr. Ashwin Dani. He was also a Graduate Fellow of the UTC Institute for Advanced Systems Engineering (UTC-IASE) at UConn. Dr. Salehi was a co-recipient of the 2020 IFAC Applications Paper Award Finalist and a recipient of the 2020 IEEE L-CSS Outstanding Reviewer Award.
Before joining UConn as a Ph.D. student, he was a full-time lecturer for three semesters at the University of Hartford, where he taught various Electrical and Computer engineering courses, from electrical and digital circuits to computer applications such as MATLAB and C++ programming. It was during his Master's program that he developed an interest in machine learning, nonlinear systems, and robotics. He received his Master's degree from the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Hartford in 2015 and his Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from Azad University, Iran, in 2006.
